Bennetto - Coffee in Madagascar
This bar proudly supports the MaMaBay Conservation Through Cocoa Project. This project is an ambitious program that is converting cleared land back into productive native forest with mixed species cultivation. Cocoa farmers will be supported through local knowledge exchange and funding to bring organic cocoa back to the Masoala Peninsula.
From the kitchen benchtop, Lucy then started refining chocolate, and still continues to develop new chocolate recipes. Recently, Lucy has partnered with a Swiss manufacturer to co-produce the majority of Bennetto chocolate products (to be able to ensure the chocolate can be certified), but some smaller batches and all product development are still done by Lucy and her team in Christchurch. The majority of cocoa is now sourced from Acopagro, a Fairtrade cooperative at the base of the Amazon Jungle in Peru.
