Kokako Coffee - Mahana Blend
$14.99
Mahana means warmth in Te Reo Maori and is a heavy bodied coffee with notes of dark chocolate, caramel and spice.
Our Mahana blend is from Fairtrade cooperatives in Ethiopia, Colombia and Sumatra. The star of the blend is the Ethiopian beans from the Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative (OCFCU) in the Oromia region; Oromia is believed to be the birthplace of the coffee tree. Founded in 1999, OCFCU is the largest coffee producer in the country, made up of over 200,000 farmers, 22,300 of which are female. Their coffee is produced using organic, bird friendly techniques.
Fairtrade & Biogro Organic certified coffee. Carbon neutral and beans are packaged in home-compostable packaging.

Kokako
At Kokako quality is paramount and as such they work with various coffee co‐operatives and traders to source green coffee which, once roasted, tastes really good. They back this up with ‘third party verification’ from both Fairtrade and Biogro NZ for the organic status of all of their coffee and drinking chocolate. Relationships throughout the whole supply chain are paramount to them –from the grower, to the co‐op, traders, certifiers, then to their roaster and then most importantly to the customer. For their original house blend Aotea, they batch roast three distinct origins of green beans from Fairtrade cooperatives in Papua New Guinea, Mexico and Sumatra.
