Pumpkin Seeds / Pepitas

These lovely large NZ pumpkin seeds are grown without the use of spays over the plants and all the weeding is done by hand with hoes. The seeds are shelled, soaked overnight, washed and dried, but not “scrubbed and polished”, this means the very thin sheath, which is thought to be beneficial to gut health, is left intact.
Pumpkin seeds are great for the heart and the liver due to being packed with omega 3 and 6 along with heaps of antioxidants! They are a rich source of magnesium and zinc and are about 25-30% protein.
A great way to use pumpkin seeds is to grind them into a meal/flour and add it to your baking.
Packaged in a paper bag with a recycled paper label which can be reused, home composted or put in council green bin.

The Wholefood Kitchen is a new local business selling delicious nutritious whole food products, which are sourced as ethically, sustainably and locally as possible and are all gluten-free. Mary is a complete foodie and decided to start the company in response to her frustration at trying to source reasonably priced nutritious whole food ingredients and products which she could be certain were gluten-free after being diagnosed with coeliac disease. She is also passionate about people and the environment, and helped set up the Ooooby Christchurch Hub in 2016 and still packs boxes with the Ooooby crew each week.
