Organic Sirloin Steak


Certified organic premium sirloin steak that is aged for a minimum of 3 weeks. It is lean with relatively little marbling because cows that feed on fresh green pasture are naturally fit and healthy themselves... so you can be too!

Organic certification means that no artificial fertilisers or sprays are used on pastures. Farmers thus must manage pastures like nature intended by continually building soil and feed soil microorganisms so keep fields green and lush.

Though not technically, organic certification means that all supplemental feed such as grass or grains must be certified organic too. Since organic grains are very expensive in New Zealand, this means that organic beef is grass-fed because it is cost prohibitive to farm otherwise.

This is a very good thing because grass is what cows are made to eat, not grains. Grains cause inflamation in the 4 stomachs of a cow, which leads to unhealthy and sick cows (that non-organic farmers routinely treat with antibiotics). Of course organic guarantees, no antibiotics or growth hormones have been used. If an organic cow needs medical treatment, they get it of course, it just means they can't be sold as organic anymore.

Vacuum packed and approximately 400g. Weight may vary slightly from week to week.
